In advance of Easter, Lincroft Presbyterian Church’s theater group LPC Players will present a free one-time performance of “Once Upon a Tree,” a musical enactment of the last days of Jesus’ life. The performance will take place April 17, 2019 at 7:30 pm in the sanctuary of Lincroft Presbyterian Church, 270 Everett Road, Lincroft, NJ 07738, located at the corner of West Front Street. RSVP your seat here: http://bit.ly/OnceUponaTree What Will You Do with the Story? LPC Players and the LPC choir, accompanied by Bob Sammond, with music from renowned composer, conductor and humorist Pepper Choplin, begins the evening singing, “Once upon a tree, a good man died, and though He did no crime, He was crucified. If the story ended there, I would have no song to share, but my heart will ever sing the story.” Jerusalem is visited, noting the danger of that city, and the boldness of Jesus’ preaching. After the last supper and time of praying in the garden, the music climaxes as Jesus is arrested, as Peter strikes a soldier’s ear. The story continues, with Jesus’ body being taken from the cross as Mary sings. The heart of the story is the inner life of the narrator, Physician Luke. He speaks of his experiences with the sick and dying as he reflects on the death of his master. Because of Jesus wondrous resurrection, Luke has given his life to the telling of the story. He asks us, “what will you do with the story?” Lincroft Presbyterian Church (www.lincroftpc.org) " Our Mission: Sharing Jesus Every Day…In All Ways.
