Dion HItchings: Portraits Recycled

Art Alliance of Monmouth County

33 Monmouth St
Red Bank, NJ 07701

Dion Hitchings’ Portraits Recycled offer a glimpse into his own unique world, a world filled with altered and complex viewpoints that offer the viewer an opportunity to” think outside the box. “ Hitchings has found a world where there are no rules or boundaries, where his inspirations are varied and vast; ranging from dreams, Indians, nuns and demons, to chickens, sins, and celebrities. His art reveals a colorful, emotional, and childlike world. Hitchings purposely chooses to use untraditional media to create his art works with various children’s art supplies including, crayons, magic markers, highlighters and colored pens. Using consumer boxes, discarded furniture, and “trash” instead of traditional drawing surfaces has enabled him to break down pre-existing print, images, and textures while allowing the type and pictures from the recycled object to become organically part of the portrait. In the main gallery Hitchings will jury work by members on the themes Red and Eight. These works will be on display March 7, 2020 through March 31, 2020 at the Art Alliance of Monmouth County, 33 Monmouth Street, Red Bank, NJ 07701. Join us at the opening reception 6PM -8PM, Saturday, March 7, 2020. Exhibitions at the Art Alliance change monthly. Six exhibitions a year are for members of the Art Alliance only.
